Hello!
I'm Kelly Cheatle, Creative Director/Owner of Greener Pastures.
I started this company in 2001 as a way to meet my creative needs
as a designer/illustrator, and create a more flexible work schedule
to accommodate the needs of my family.
I received my degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology
in Design, with a minor in Illustration, and a major interest in
every studio elective I could get my hands on. This diverse knowledge
of traditional materials & image making techniques— printmaking,
photography, cut-paper illustration, clay, wood, metal, textiles— has
given me an appreciation for texture and dimensionality- even in
digital format. I honed my web design and information
architecture skills when I worked as a User Interface designer,
and then Art Director for Applied Graphics Technologies.
Some of my favorite projects include developing brand identities
for small to medium sized local businesses, and creating unique fundraising
appeals for non-profit organizations and progressive politicians.
Lately I've noticed a growing
desire to apply my talents to supporting community-building organizations,
and would some day love to open an arts-based community center.
When I'm not working (wait a minute, I'm a mother- I'm
always working!) or making things or playing with the family,
I serve on the Executive Board of Child & Family
Resources, Inc., the child care resource & referral agency
for Ontario and Yates county. I am also a co-leader of Mothers & More
Rochester, a networking & support
group for mothers in the Greater Rochester Area.
